LGBTI+ asylum seekers in the Netherlands deserve a fair and professional hearing. To give you a fair chance we offer tailored support to help you prepare for your IND interview and navigate the asylum process with confidence.
Preparing LGBTI+ asylum seekers for their IND Interview
(Nader Gehoor) is the most effective way to ensure fair and expert assessments. It’s a simple, scalable intervention that can be done with volunteers.
A well-prepared interview gives the LGBTI+ asylum seekers a fair chance and can lead to (in case of a positive outcome) much shorter early in the asylum
process - avoiding lengthy legal procedures, extended stays in asylum centers, and emotional distress.
With time, trust, and guidance, asylum seekers can share their stories more clearly and confidently. This increases their chances of being understood and granted protection.
Trained volunteers work one-on-one with LGBTI+ asylum seekers to prepare them for the IND Further Interview - helping them share their story clearly, confidently, and safely.
Volunteers receive comprehensive training on IND procedures, trauma-informed communication, and emotional boundaries, ensuring they can offer effective and respectful guidance.
The foundation operates through well-defined processes - from intake and planning to knowledge sharing and communication - ensuring consistent, high-quality support for both asylum seekers and volunteers.
We believe that every LGBTI+ asylum seeker deserves a fair, thorough and expert assessment of their application. While not every claim will result in a positive outcome - and that is not the goal in itself - every individual must be given a genuine chance to present their case.
Unfortunately, many current procedures fall short. Though not universally flawed, numerous accounts from asylum seekers, volunteers and legal professionals reveal systemic issues: misunderstandings, interviews that lack depth, assessments that misinterpret personal statements and applicants who are unprepared for critical moments in the process.
Without proper support and fair evaluation, many LGBTI+ asylum seekers are denied not just asylum - but the possibility of a safe and dignified life in the Netherlands. Our mission is to change that.
